We hope we've answered some of your questions here....

Will my tiles or basin look the same as a sample or the picture on your website?

All monitors depict colour differently, so it is always best to order a sample. Our stone tiles are a 100% natural product, and therefore each tile will be similar but not identical. Every stone tile is subject to natural colour and shade variations even if they are from the same batch and cut from the same block. However, this effect is the reason why many choose to buy stone in order to bring in natures quality & beauty in to their home.

Can the delivery driver call before attempting delivery to make sure that I am home?

We always endevour to pass on as much information to the delivery company in advance, however the driver does not always get to see delivery information until they reach their destination. If you are not in at the time of delivery and you have been made aware of the date in advance then re-delivery charges will apply.

Are you able to leave my order with a neighbour or at the side of my house if I am not in?

Unfortunately we can't leave your order at another address. If your order is being delivered by pallet and only if it is unavoidable we can leave your order in a safe place at your property, however we strongly advise you to take delivery yourself. The reason being is that in the unlikely event that there have been breakages during transit you can inspect the goods in front of the driver and mark breakages on the delivery note. This ensures that no complications arise in the event of us having to replace damaged goods or issuing a refund. If your order is being delivered by courier then a signature is required and someone will have to be there to accept delivery. Please inform us immediately if you will not be there to accept delivery.

What happens if my goods arrive damaged?

Replacement goods will then be despatched immediately (subject to stock availability) in some cases we may collect the damaged goods. For orders delivered by pallet, please make sure that you read all the information that we send you prior to your delivery. It is important that you inspect your goods before the driver leaves. If there are any damages please note these on the delivery note before you sign. If you can not be sure of the quantity of damage, then please sign as 'damages - quantity to be verified'. Please inform us that you have incurred breakages and replacements will be arranged (Subject to stock availability). What is machine calibrated slate?

Many people believe calibrated slate to mean that the slate has a flat back, or that the slate has an even thickness. Calibrated actually means that the thickness within each tile can not vary more than 4mm, so unless you purchase honed slate, then your slate tiles will have a natural thickness variation of no more than 4mm.

Are all of your tiles suitable for walls and floors?

Unlike porcelain and ceramic tiles, in stone there is not usually a differentiation between wall and floor tiles. However, it is not advised to use tiles thicker than 12mm on your walls. If you are concerned about the strength of your walls it would be best to seek suitable advice from a builder or tiler. Glass tiles are not suitable for flooring unless they are marked as floor tiles.

Which products need to be sealed?

All natural stone products should be sealed to protect them from grease, water and dirt. This includes basins & polished stone tiles. Tiles should be sealed before and after grouting for maximum protection. The instructions for using the sealant will be on the tin.

Which sealant do I use?

Lithofin MN Stainstop is invisible and is the best possible protection from grease, water and dirt. Lithofin MN Slate Seal can be used on slate and rougher stones to seal, enhance the colour structure and add sheen. Lithofin Multi-seal can be used on slate or rougher stones to add as satin finish.

Do I have to keep treating the stone regularly?

Porous stone such as limestone or sandstone will need more treatments than polished stone tiles such as granite or marble, especially if used in wet areas. Sandstone is not recommended for use in bathrooms. The frequency of re-sealing will depend upon the environment the stone is in. E.g a limestone floor laid in a kitchen with kids and pets in the household will require re-sealing more frequently than a polished marble floor laid in an unused room.

I have just finished laying the stone tiles and they appear patchy

I don't need the tiles for a while, how can I guarantee that you will have the tiles at a later date when I need them?

We always try to ensure that we are fully stocked with our full range, however due to many factors such as lengthy shipping times, damages en-route, delays at the docks etc often results in time periods when products will be out of stock. Therefore if we have confirmed an amount that we have in stock today it may not be there tomorrow, so the best way to guarantee that you get the tiles you want is to order them, and as long as they have been paid for we can hold on to them until you confirm a delivery date.
